Outdoor services at CP, CL, and HP are centered on a grassy lawn area. Attendees should bring their own chairs and/or blankets. Audio is delivered through a traditional PA system. At CP only, an AM transmitter option is available for individuals who wish to remain at their vehicles. The Gary Campus and Chinese Congregation are exploring off-site locations due to onsite limitations.

Expect a more relaxed and relational worship experience. Kids ministry will be provided (more on that below)! There will be a full worship set, and the sermon will be the same sermon broadcast that morning on the livestream. For most weekends, Pastor Steve and the campus pastors will preach at their respective locations. After the service, everyone is encouraged to linger and fellowship. Picnics and tailgate lunches are encouraged!

Kids Ministry has resumed outdoors for kids 4 years old through 5th grade at Crown Point, Cedar Lake, and Hobart/Portage.

  1. You no longer need to bring a beach towel.
  2. No pre-registration is required.
  3. Please bring a water bottle with your childโ€™s name on it that they can use throughout Kids Ministry.
  4. Please dress your child casually. It may be hot and we may be playing some games. They may even get a little wet some weeks. ๐Ÿ™‚ Physical distancing will be implemented as best as possible during the games.
  5. Face coverings are optional for Kids Ministry, but required for bathroom breaks only. We will have disposable face masks for the kids to use if they need to use the restroom.
  6. Kids will be checked in upon arrival to the outdoor service. All kids will sit with their parents during the worship time and be dismissed during the service to the Kids Ministry. When they are dismissed, they will walk to the designated area.
  7. Kids Ministry staff and volunteers will do their best to keep all kids physically distanced. Please be patient with us as we learn to do Kids Ministry in a new way.
  8. We will be serving a pre-packaged snack during Kids Ministry. We will use hand sanitizer and be aware of allergies.
  9. Please watch the website and social media for any cancellations of our outdoor services due to weather.
  10. As is happening everywhere, if your child or anyone in your family has had COVID-19 symptoms of any kind, please keep them home.

If you can’t join us Sunday, check out our YouTube Channel for this week’s lesson!

We will always have fellowship time after every outdoor service. Households are encouraged to bring a lunch to picnic or tailgate. Grills will be fired up and available for people who wish to utilize them. Outdoor games (bean bags, etc.) are welcome. Occasionally we may bring in a food truck or other food vendor. Stay tuned to our social media channels for announcements about lunch offerings at each location. Please plan to stick around and enjoy some time with the church congregation after the service!

For the immediate future, Outdoor Services will replace the drive-in approach. Still, drive-in remains an option for the 10:15 service at the Crown Point campus only. Thus, attendees at CP have the option to sit on the grassy lawn or remain at their vehicles. The outside stage at CP has been relocated to accommodate people sitting in both areas.

The livestream will continue at 9:00 and 10:45am, and the indoor 9:00am service at CP remains unchanged. All indoor services at CL, HP, and Gary are outside (weather permitting).

In the case of poor weather, outdoor services will be canceled. Services will not be moved inside. Since weather situations are localized, it is possible that one location is canceled while another is not. All cancellation announcements will be posted on Bethelโ€™s website and social media channels by 8:30am Sunday morning. When cancellations happen due to weather, we encourage you to engage with the livestream service at 9:00 or 10:45am.

Communion will happen approximately twice a month at our outdoor services. Communion is presently scheduled for September 6, September 20, October 4, and October 18. Because of safety concerns, we ask that everyone bring their own elements.

No. Reservations are no longer required for any Bethel service (indoor or outdoor).

All attendees are asked to maintain at least 6 feet of distance between households. Most campuses have a sizable lawn area, so we are able to spread out adequately and comfortably.

Face coverings are optional for all outdoor services. They are still required for the 9:00am indoor service at Crown Point.

People of any age category are welcome to attend our outdoor services. Still, we encourage at-risk persons to use wise discernment regarding how they choose to engage with our in-person worship services.

Absolutely! While CP and CL have some nice shade from trees, all locations have some very sunny spots. We ask that all large shade coverings be utilized at the edges of the seating areas (so as not to impede the view of the platform for others).

No. Please bring your own folding chairs and/or blankets.

We plan to stick to this schedule as long as weather permits, or until governmental restrictions advise us otherwise.
